STEVE CARELL SAYS THE OFFICE REVIVAL WON’T HAPPEN: But not for the reason you may think. Steve Carell says Michael Scott’s sense of humor just wouldn’t fly today. He tells Esquire: “Because The Office is on Netflix and replaying, a lot more people have seen it recently. And I think because of that there’s been a resurgence in interest in the show, and talk about bringing it back. But apart from the fact that I just don’t think that’s a good idea, it might be impossible to do that show today and have people accept it the way it was accepted 10 years ago. The climate’s different.” He notes that Michael Scott’s entire character is “predicated on inappropriate behavior.”
A tragedy on the set of the Mr. Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks forced the production to shut down yesterday (Thursday). A 61-year-old sound mixer was taking a smoke break when he somehow fell two stories off a balcony. The man was rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital where his condition quickly worsened. He was later pronounced dead. Filming has been suspended while police investigate the incident. Hanks stars as Fred Rogers in the biopic, titled You Are My Friend. It is scheduled to come out next October.(
Scarlett Johansson will earn $15 million for the upcoming Black Widow movie. That gives her equal pay compared to her Avengers co-stars Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, who both took home the same amount for their standalone movies. ScarJo brought home a “low-seven figure salary for the first Avengers movie in 2012 (compared to [Robert Downey Junior’s] $50 million),” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
REPORT HINTS AT TROUBLE BETWEEN BRADLEY COPPER AND IRINA SHAYK: Bradley Cooper is earning rave reviews in Hollywood for A Star Is Born, but things appear shakier on the home front, Page Six reports. Cooper and his baby mama Irina Shayk dined at Masa in Time Warner Center this week. “They were not looking happy,” a spy told Page Six. “The couple sat down. He was in a hoodie and she was fresh-faced — no makeup — and they barely spoke to each other at the start of the meal. Halfway through, she started looking off to the side and he was moody.” They welcomed their first child, Lea, together last year.
