SCOTT: Scott was a fraternity brother and friend of Director JP. He SHOWED UP for his friends in good times and bad. He was a husband, and a father to Wyatt and Lyla Mae. And he was the friend who would fire up the team before the buddies played football or throw another log on the bonfire and say let’s stay up til sunrise! Scott had a best friend, Bumpus. They were friends throughout college on into grown life, meeting their wives, each having kids and living out good times together. Due to cancer, Scott had to leave us too soon. You can see Bumpus by his side up til the end, returning some of the friendship that Scott had always so freely given. Scott we #ThoughtAboutYou. And even now, after they’re gone, she feels connected through pictures and books and memories. Sam’s brothers found Mary’s devotional and gave it to Sam. A day doesn’t go by that she doesn’t read it. It keeps her close to her mom. One of Sam’s favorite pictures is one of her and her dad on her 12th birthday. You can see Charley loading her into a big red hot air ballon. He wanted her to know that she could soar anywhere — and she did. When she was older, Sam went to NYC to follow her dream of being a dancer. They didn’t have the money to pay for a NYC apartment, so she stayed at the YMCA and put her money toward dance classes. Mary and Charley supported her in all the ways they could every step of the way. Sam soared! And every time she sees a hot air ballon soaring in the sky, she thinks of Mary and Charley. He always put his friends and family above all else. He was one of the funniest people you could ever meet. When you were a dinner guest at his house, it was like watching an episode of Saturday Night Live as Chad kept everyone in stitches. Chad was also a computer genius. He loved country music; he was hardworking and fun. He lived life full throttle for the short years that he was here with us. Everyone whose life was touched by Chad thinks about him. Sometimes they cry, but it often ends with a smile remembering the laughs, the loyalty, and the love that Chad shared with them. She raised her and raced her for many years and won many awards even though she was up against much larger and more professionally trained horses. Sometimes other girls would mock her in the paddock before the races and it would make Brookster and Kelly so mad they vowed to show those big horses and fancy girls who was the boss of the ring. You can see Kelly pinning one of her many ribbons on the cross in the video. Brookster went blind a few years back and Kelly never gave up on her. Instead of finding a new horse, Kelly taught Brookster how to race without site but putting a cover on her eyes. Absolute trust. After her racing years were over, Brookster delivered a foal who Kelly continues to race to this day!
