Jon Hamm and Ed Harris will join Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick. The sequel, which also features original star Val Kilmer, hits theaters July 12th, 2019.
Although filming is occurring aboard a Norfolk-based aircraft carrier (the Abraham Lincoln), and Virginia Beach is home to plenty of fighter pilots who are Top Gun graduates, don’t expect to see much – if any – of Hampton Roads in the upcoming film “Top Gun: Maverick.” The Virginia Film Office says it hasn’t had any requests for assistance with the Tom Cruise production that is slated to hit theaters in July. The film also isn’t receiving any tax incentives to shoot here. Both are clues that Tom Cruise’s character likely won’t be based at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach in the much-anticipated sequel to the 1986 blockbuster that inspired a generation of fighter pilots who fly out of Oceana.
Why “The Big Bang Theory” Is Ending: Following the news that the hit CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” will end in 2019, we can now tell you why the decision was made. It seems that one of the show’s key stars, Jim Parsons, was ready to step away from his role. According to Entertainment Weekly, the 45-year-old Emmy winner went into negotiations for the last two seasons already planning to leave the role of Sheldon Cooper behind. Lately, Parsons has spent his off time acting on Broadway – perhaps the stage bug has bitten him hard.
At Least One Country Star to Perform at Aretha Franklin’s Funeral: Aretha Franklin’s funeral will be a star-studded musical affair: Faith Hill, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Jennifer Hudson are among the singers who will perform at the August 31st service in Detroit.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West aren’t adding to their family just yet, despite reports. Earlier this week, a source supposedly told Us Weekly that the reality star was planning to have a fourth child with her last embryo. But she tells E! News, “I don’t know, I read that, I read something … none of that was true. I’ve been really open about it and talked about it on our show, so … I don’t know.” The couple’s third child, Chicago, was born in January via surrogate.
Ben Affleck Enters Rehab for the third time: Ben Affleck relapsed this week and began drinking alone (and with rumored new flame Playboy model Shauna Sexton). He has reached out for help now, and has checked into rehab to combat alcohol addiction, E! News has learned. His soon-to-be-ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children, staged an intervention and drove him to a rehab center on Wednesday, two days after she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This will mark Affleck’s third stint in rehab in 17 years.

Regardless of what anyone might think of my buddy, @jakeowen, please know this… I’ve never met a young man who has a better understanding or knowledge of what traditional and roots country music is than he does. Many of his influences are so similar to mine.
